The Villages / Sawgrass Grove / St. Catherine
St. Catherine sits across from Sawgrass Grove, and both Southern Oaks Championship golf and the Clifton Cove Putting Course are inside the village. We install gutters, guards and drainage under St. Catherine’s oak hammocks, with a state-licensed home and building inspector on every job. Call or text (352) 440-3310.

When St. Catherine opened around 2020 and 2021, the developer described oak hammocks and woodlands along each side of the street, with homes backing up to woodland views. Of the villages around Sawgrass Grove, it has the best-documented tree cover. That’s a big reason people love it. It’s also why gutters here fill faster than in the more open villages nearby. Homes here closed around 2020 and 2021, so most still have their first gutters, and many have never had guards through a real oak season.
Oaks shed on a schedule. Leaves come down through the cooler months. Then in late winter and spring, as the new growth pushes in, they drop catkins, the stringy pollen tassels that pile up on roofs and wash into gutters with the first rain. Wet catkins mat together and plug a downspout outlet fast. Add acorns and twigs, and an open gutter under these trees can need clearing more than twice a year.
That’s why most of our St. Catherine work starts with guards. A 316L stainless micro-mesh guard sits on top of the gutter, keeps the leaves, catkins and acorns out, and lets the water straight through. It comes with a lifetime no-clog warranty. If your builder gutters are pitched and hung right, we put the guards on what you have. If they aren’t, we fix that first.

What it means for your gutters: the heaviest oak leaf and catkin load of the villages around Sawgrass Grove, and woodland-backed lots where the back gutter fills first. St. Catherine homes are where micro-mesh guards pay off most.

St. Catherine is in District 13, which is still covered by the developer’s Architectural Review manual for Districts 13 through 16. That manual does not mention gutters or downspouts, and it says exterior changes need approval, so plan on an ARC application before new gutters go up. That is normal here and it is not a hurdle. We tell you up front, give you the color, profile and downspout layout the application asks for, and schedule the work once it is approved.
Rules get revised, so we check the current manual before we start. The manuals are posted on the District Government Community Standards page.
Here’s what we do for St. Catherine homes under the oaks.

Many St. Catherine homes back up to woodland, and that back run is the one nobody checks. You see the front gutters every time you pull into the driveway. The back gutter sits above the lanai or the bedroom windows, catching the heaviest leaf load, and you only find out it’s full when water pours over the edge during a summer storm.
On a wooded lot we always start at the back. Overflow there splashes the lanai screen, stains the wall and soaks the bed against the foundation. Guards on that run, plus a downspout piped underground in solid PVC about five feet out, keep the back of the house as dry as the front. Cottage homes and frame verandas get the same check, since overflow onto siding does its damage out of sight. If the back of your house is where the trees are, that’s where your gutter money belongs first.
Call or text (352) 440-3310 or book online. Tell us what you are seeing: overflow at a corner, a run that sags, water at the slab, or just the leaves. If it is a mystery leak, we offer a $100 diagnostic visit that is credited toward the work.
Jeff starts at the back of the house where the woods are closest, checks how much oak hangs over the roof, and looks at the pitch and hangers before recommending guards. Then you get a straight answer, including when the right call is a cleaning or a small repair and nothing else.
Seamless .032 aluminum rolled on site, hangers every two feet, 316L stainless mesh where it earns its keep and solid PVC carrying water out about five feet from the house. Then we clean up, walk it with you and stand behind it with our lifetime no-clog guard warranty.

Premium Leaf Guards is run by Jeff Ours, a state-licensed home and building inspector and court-recognized construction expert with more than twenty years in the trade. He is on every job and does about half of every install himself.
That matters in St. Catherine, where oak hammocks line the streets and a guard on a badly pitched gutter just hides the problem. An inspector checks the gutter under the guard first, so what you pay for actually works.
“The system is only as good as the installer. I like money, but I don’t try to sell you something you don’t need.”

More often than most places. Open gutters under these trees usually need clearing after the leaf drop in the cooler months and again after the catkins come down in spring, and sometimes in between when a storm brings down twigs and acorns. A micro-mesh guard ends that routine.
Usually, yes. We check the pitch and hangers first. If the gutter drains well and is hung solidly, the guards go right on top. If a run holds water or pulls away from the fascia, we fix that before the guard goes on, so it isn’t hiding a problem.
A little. A side that faces open fairway usually gets less debris and more wind-driven rain. We look at each side of the house separately. The run facing the woods might need a guard while the run facing Southern Oaks needs better pitch or a splash guard at the corner.
Yes. Catkins are far too big to pass through 316L stainless micro-mesh. They sit on top, dry out and blow off or wash away in the next rain, while the water drops through into the gutter. That’s the part of spring cleanup you get to stop doing. The mesh also keeps out acorns and leaves the rest of the year.
It depends on the length of your roof line, the number of corners and downspouts, and whether you add guards or underground drainage. We price every job all in and the estimate is free. Call or text (352) 440-3310 and we will come look.
