Frequently Asked Questions

Premium Leaf Guards answers the most common questions Ocala and The Villages homeowners ask about gutter guards, seamless gutters, drainage, warranties, pricing, and our Central Florida service area. You deal with a state-licensed inspector who is on every job, uses heavier materials than the cheap installers, and gives you a straight answer instead of a sales pitch. If you do not see your question here, call or text and we will answer it honestly.

You have questions before you spend money on your home, and you should. Most folks who call us have already gotten a quote from the big national brand or a cheap local crew, and they are trying to figure out who is telling them the truth. That is what this page is for. We put the real answers in plain language, the same way we would explain them standing in your driveway, so you can make a smart decision about protecting the biggest thing you own. No pressure, no fine print games, just honest answers from someone who actually does the work.

About Premium Leaf Guards

Premium Leaf Guards is a local gutter company serving Ocala, The Villages, and the rest of Central Florida. The owner is a state-licensed home and building inspector with more than 20 years in construction, and he is on every job, doing about half the install himself. You get premium materials, honest guidance, and one expert from your first call to the final walkthrough.

We cover Marion, Lake, Sumter, Alachua, Putnam, and Columbia counties, with Ocala and The Villages as the heart of our work. If you are within about an hour of Ocala, we very likely serve you. Not sure? Call or text and we will tell you straight.

Yes. The owner is a state-licensed home and building inspector and a court-recognized construction expert, and the business is insured. That matters because the person quoting your gutters actually understands how water moves around your whole house, not just how to hang a gutter.

Yes. A standard estimate is free, and a licensed inspector looks at your actual roofline and drainage before quoting anything. For tougher diagnostic calls, where the problem is unknown, there is a $100 diagnostic visit that is credited toward the work if you hire us.

Gutter Guards and Leaf Protection

For most Central Florida homes, yes. Between heavy oak leaf drop, pine needles, and afternoon storms that dump fast, open gutters clog and overflow right when you need them most. Quality micro-mesh guards keep the debris out, keep the water flowing, and get you off the ladder for good, which is the whole point for most of the retirees we serve.

Cheap guards clog. Good ones do not. The reverse-curve and foam products that disappoint people let pine needles and wet oak debris ride the water right in. We install surgical 316L stainless micro-mesh on a heavy aluminum frame, with a mesh fine enough to block even a pine needle while water passes through. Installed correctly on a properly pitched gutter, it works.

Fine stainless micro-mesh. Pine needles are the hardest debris to stop, and only a tight surgical-grade mesh reliably blocks them while still letting oak leaves dry on top and blow off. Foam, brush, and wide-screen guards do not hold up to Florida tree litter. That is why we use 316L stainless and nothing thinner.

A no-clog warranty means if the guard ever clogs, it gets fixed at no charge to you. Ours is a lifetime no-clog product warranty on the leaf guards, and it is honored personally by the owner, not outsourced to a call center. You are not chasing a national hotline, you are calling the man who installed it.

You deal with the licensed owner who does the work, not a commissioned salesperson on a today-only pitch. The materials are heavier, the warranty is honored in person, and there is no inflated list price to “discount” from. Honest work, premium materials, real accountability.

Seamless Gutters and Materials

Seamless gutters are formed in one continuous run on site, with no joints along the length where leaks usually start. Fewer seams means fewer failure points, fewer drips over your doorway, and a cleaner look on the house. They are the standard we install on nearly every home.

It matters a lot. We use .032 aluminum coil, where many cheap installers use thinner .027. That heavier gauge is roughly 50 percent more resistant to bending and denting, and a properly installed .032 system lasts 20 to 30 years or more. You feel the difference the first time a ladder leans against it.

Almost always because the downspouts clog and the hangers are spaced too far apart. When a clogged gutter fills with water, it gets heavy fast, and weak, widely spaced hangers let it sag and tear off. Florida practice allows hangers up to about three feet apart. We set ours every two feet, so the gutter has the support to hold a full load of water.

Code allows up to about three feet, but that is the maximum, not the smart spacing for our storms. We install a hidden hanger every two feet. Tighter spacing is the single biggest reason our gutters do not pull off the house when the rain comes hard and fast.

Yes, when the roof calls for it. Bigger roof sections and steep pitches shed a lot of water at once, and a six-inch gutter with properly sized downspouts moves it without overflowing. A licensed inspector will tell you whether your home actually needs the upgrade or not.

Cleaning, Repair, and Specialty Gutters

Usually, yes, even when other companies tell you it cannot. The clogged aluminum awning gutters on a lanai are a problem most installers walk away from, and they are exactly the kind of retrofit we take on. We clear them, rework the drainage, and where it makes sense add protection so they stop clogging.

We repair. If a reseal at the seams or a realignment to fix the pitch will actually solve your problem, we will tell you that instead of selling you a full replacement. We offer those fixes individually so you only pay for what your home needs.

Yes. We clean gutters across Ocala and The Villages, and we are honest about whether cleaning alone will hold up or whether guards would save you from doing it again next season. Either way, you get a straight recommendation.

Beyond standard seamless gutters and guards, we handle box gutters, roll-form, copper, half-round, and super gutters, plus soffit and fascia work. If it carries water off a roof, there is a good chance we build or fix it.

Drainage and Water Mitigation

Away from your foundation. Gutters that dump right at the base of the house are only half the job. The goal is to carry the water out about five feet from the foundation so it cannot pool, crack the slab, or wash out your landscaping.

Because it is probably the cheap black corrugated pipe, which breaks everywhere it bends and collapses underground where you cannot see it. We install solid PVC instead, which holds its shape, drains cleanly, and does not crush. It costs a little more up front and saves you from digging it up later.

Yes. When the problem is standing water in the yard or water heading toward the house, we install French drains, curtain and perimeter drains, catch basins, and dry wells, sized to your lot. A licensed inspector looks at how water actually moves across your property before recommending anything.

Yes, and it is one of the most expensive problems we see. Central Florida averages more than 50 inches of rain a year, most of it in hard summer storms. Without gutters and proper drainage, that water pounds the soil at your foundation, and the repair bill dwarfs the cost of doing it right.

Pricing, Financing, and Getting Started

Every home is different, so a real number comes from a free estimate, not a generic figure online. Your price depends on your rooflines, the gutter size, the materials, and whether you add guards or drainage. We give you one honest, all-in number with no inflated list price and no pressure, so the quote actually fits your house.

Because a price you can trust has to be tied to your actual roof. Posting a generic per-foot number would either overpromise or overcharge, and neither is honest. A licensed inspector measures, looks at your drainage, and gives you a real number.

Yes. We offer monthly financing so you can protect your home now and pay over time, and checking your options uses a soft credit check that does not affect your score. We also take cash, check, card, Zelle, Venmo, and Cash App.

Most homes are done in a day, though larger or specialty jobs can run longer. We confirm the schedule the day before, we show up, and we answer the phone if anything comes up. The full path from quote to finished install is often under two weeks.

We back our work with a 2-year workmanship warranty, plus a lifetime no-clog product warranty on the leaf guards, honored personally. You are covered on both the install and the guard performance.

Call or text (352) 440-3310, or request a free estimate online, and tell us what is going on with your gutters. A licensed inspector comes out, gives you an honest assessment, and you decide on your own time.
