Winifred is a village of designer homes. Nearly every listing we found is a Whispering Oak, Camellia, Wisteria, Gardenia, Jasmine or Oleander model, built in 2004. Along Winifred Way, lots overlook the first hole of Palmer Legends’ Laurel Valley nine, with large moss-draped oaks between the homes and the preserve behind them.
Those oaks put the usual leaves, catkins and acorns into the gutters, but the Spanish moss is what catches people off guard. It is stringy and light, it blows off the branches in every storm, and it does not wash down a downspout. It drapes across the gutter, snags the leaves behind it and knits everything into a mat that holds water. Coarse screens don’t stop it, because the strands weave right through the openings and hang there.
The original 2004 gutters are now past 20 years old, so the clog is often only half the story. A gutter that has sat full and heavy for years pulls on its fasteners, and the joints start to weep. A 316L stainless micro-mesh guard keeps moss, leaves and catkins on top, where they dry out and blow off, and lets the water through. We check the hangers and joints first, so the guard goes on a gutter that is worth guarding.

What it means for your gutters: Spanish moss and oak debris landing in 20-year-old gutters. Winifred homes do best with a fine micro-mesh guard on a gutter that is fastened tight.

Winifred is in District 5, and the current District 5 Architectural Review manual (revised July 2026) says ARC approval is not required for gutters and downspouts on homes, courtyard villas and patio villas. You still need to match the look of the neighborhood, and anything beyond gutters and downspouts goes through review first.
Rules get revised, so we check the current manual before we start. If your project needs an application, we say so up front and help you put it together. The manuals are posted on the District Government Community Standards page.
Here is what we do for Winifred designer homes.

If your home has a lanai facing the course, it probably sits right under the main roof line. When the gutter above it clogs with moss and leaves, the overflow lands on the lanai roof or pours off the edge in a sheet beside the screen door. That is often the first sign people notice: water falling where they sit, not a problem up on the roof.
Fixing it takes two steps. First, keep the gutter above the lanai clear, because that run usually sits under the most oak and moss. Second, give the water a real path: a gutter on the lanai roof edge if it needs one, and downspouts tied into solid PVC underground drainage that lets the water out about five feet from the foundation instead of dumping it at the slab. On a golf-front lot, that also keeps runoff from cutting a channel across the back lawn.
Call or text (352) 440-3310 or book online. Tell us what you are seeing: overflow at a corner, a run that sags, water at the slab, or just the leaves. If it is a mystery leak, we offer a $100 diagnostic visit that is credited toward the work.
Jeff looks at how the oaks and moss hang over the roof, checks the hangers and joints on the original 2004 gutters, and sees where water from the main roof lands on the lanai. Then you get a straight answer, including when the right call is a cleaning or a small repair and nothing else.
Seamless .032 aluminum rolled on site, hangers every two feet, 316L stainless mesh where it earns its keep and solid PVC carrying water out about five feet from the house. Then we clean up, walk it with you and stand behind it with our lifetime no-clog guard warranty.

Premium Leaf Guards is run by Jeff Ours, a state-licensed home and building inspector and court-recognized construction expert with more than twenty years in the trade. He is on every job and does about half of every install himself.
That matters in Winifred, where moss-heavy oaks and 20-year-old gutters often hide a fastener or joint problem under the clog. A licensed inspector finds it before a guard goes on, so you are not covering up a repair you will need anyway.
“The system is only as good as the installer. I like money, but I don’t try to sell you something you don’t need.”

Winifred is in District 5, and the current Architectural Review manual says ARC approval is not required for gutters and downspouts on homes, courtyard villas and patio villas. The manual does not mention gutter guards by name, and anything beyond gutters and downspouts goes through review, so we check the current manual for your project before we start.
A fine one will. Coarse screens let the strands weave through, and then they catch more debris behind them. A 316L stainless micro-mesh has openings too small for moss to get through, so it sits on top, dries out and blows off. It carries a lifetime no-clog warranty.
Usually the gutter on the main roof above it is clogged, so it overflows straight down onto the lanai roof or the walkway. Clearing and guarding that gutter fixes most of it. If the lanai roof needs its own gutter and downspout, we add one and carry the water away underground. Either way, we look at both roofs together, because the lanai is only as dry as the gutter above it.
Away from the house, and somewhere it can soak in. We tie downspouts into solid PVC underground drainage that lets the water out about five feet from the foundation, at a spot where it spreads into the lawn instead of cutting a ditch toward the course.
The gutter work is the same, but what a leak damages is different. On frame homes with vinyl siding, water that gets past the gutter runs down behind the siding, out of sight. On a block home, it shows up as staining on the wall and wet soil at the foundation near the corners. Either way, we check the fascia behind the gutter before we hang anything new.
It depends on the length of your roof line, the number of corners and downspouts, and whether you add guards or underground drainage. We price every job all in and the estimate is free. Call or text (352) 440-3310 and we will come look.
