Most building owners never think about the soffit and fascia until water shows up where it should not. Here is the plain version so you know what you are paying for.
The fascia is the vertical board that runs along the edge of the roof, right where the rafters end. It carries the gutters and it is the line your eye follows around the whole building. The soffit is the panel tucked underneath that overhang. It closes off the underside of the eave and lets the roof breathe through its vents, which keeps hot, damp air from getting trapped against the structure.
On a commercial building both jobs matter more than they look. The fascia has to be solid enough to hold gutters full of water during an Ocala downpour. The soffit has to ventilate the space and keep birds, wasps, and rodents out of the eave. When either one fails, you do not just get an ugly roofline. You get trapped moisture, higher cooling bills, and water working its way toward the roof deck and the walls. Get it right and the building looks finished, stays drier, and runs cooler.

For most commercial buildings we recommend aluminum, because it resists Florida moisture, pests, and rot and holds up to heat and heavy rain. Vinyl is an option on a budget, and we will match existing wood on a historic Ocala building when that is what fits.
Usually the fascia behind the gutter has gone soft from trapped water, often because a clogged gutter sat full and wet against it. Once the board is weak it can no longer hold the gutter load, so the whole edge sags. We fix the fascia first, then re-hang the gutters so they sit level again.
