Gainesville is a Tree City and proud of it, with a tree canopy covering close to half the city. That shade is beautiful and it is hard on gutters. Live oaks make up a small share of the trees here but produce roughly a third of the county’s leaf cover, and because they are evergreen they shed a little all year instead of all at once.
